Carol Burgess'
professional experience has focused on a variety of educational
activities-teacher, trainer, speaker, writer, editor, coach, consultant.
Her teaching background includes not only classroom experience but
also one-on-one tutoring in suburban and urban schools in Minnesota.
As Director of the USDE exemplary professional development program,
Reading Power in the Content Areas, Carol worked extensively throughout
the United States, its territories and commonwealths, and foreign
countries. In this capacity she conducted training workshops on
content reading skills for teachers from upper elementary through
postsecondary sites. Other Reading Power activities included implementation
and follow-up monitoring, writing and editing program materials,
developing and overseeing certified trainers, writing federal and
state grant proposals, and analyzing and writing evaluation reports.
In addition, for over twenty years Carol has made presentations
at federal, state, and local conferences, particularly those of
the National Staff Development Council and International Reading
Association. Here in Minnesota, Carol works with the Minnesota Department
of Education in the development and implementation of a process
to assist schools whose students are not succeeding academically---those
designated as not making adequate yearly progress (AYP). She served
as a Team Leader and Coach for suburban, urban, and rural schools
using this process. Carol also served as President of the Minnesota
Staff Development Council for four years. Carol brings a wealth
of knowledge and expertise to the development and the presentation
of effective staff development.

 | Marlys Dickmeyer
Marlys Dickmeyer is the founder and CEO of Visions Expressed Consulting Group, Inc., an educational consulting company serving school districts in Minnesota since 1994.
She is a former elementary teacher and past Director of the Shared Decisions Minnesota project. Marlys has extensive experience and expertise in establishing effective site councils, facilitating rigorous school improvement planning, and monitoring staff development efforts. She is noted for her group facilitation skills and is a sought after grant writer and trainer. She is a Minnesota Department of Education consultant working with non-performing schools (those not reaching AYP-adequate yearly progress) and is also a service provider for schools implementing Comprehensive School Reform grants. Marlys has developed and presented numerous training workshops including teacher effectiveness, team building, leadership development, staff development planning and evaluation, goal setting, the change process and site council accountability systems and structures.
